Incheon
Incheon
is located in midwest Gyeonggi-do. It
borders on Bucheon-si on the east, the
West Sea (Yellow Sea) on the west,
Siheung-si on the southeast, and Gimpo-gun
on the north. It covers a total of 954§´,
and its population stood at about
2,250,000(as of 1999 ). There are two guns
and eight gus under the city's
jurisdiction. (Guns and gus are basic
administrative units.) City Hall is in
Guwol-dong, Nam-gu
Incheon is a
gateway to the capital, Seoul, at the same
time, one of the major port cities in
Asia, as well as a center for
communication, and culture.
Industry on
the western coast of Incheon is situated
in low mountains and hills. Its coast
extends from north to south. The harbor
das developed toward the southwest.
Incheon
ties are the highest in the world at up to
9.27m and the lowest at 7.49m. Also, it
has a large estuary with a low
inclination.
