OFC
- (Oceania) |
|
| They
administer the game in Oceania. Traditional power house Australia
fell at the last hurdle in 1998, losing a play-off against
Iran. They are favourites to progress again, but
this time face a play-off against a South American team.
| THE QUALIFYING COMPETITION |
| For the First Round, ten teams have been
drawn into two groups of five and will play a round-robin - the format yet to be
determined. In the Second Round, the two group winners will compete in a two-leg play-off
with the winner playing the fifth placed CONMEBOL team for a berth in the 2002 World Cup
Finals. |
