Air Travel To Japan
There are excellent, if somewhat expensive, air connections
between Japan and the US. Direct departures are available from
most major American cities, including Detroit. Detroit Metro
Airport is a hub for Northwest Airlines with daily flights to
several cities in Japan, but numerous other airlines also have
frequent departures, so shop around for the best price.
Students may be eligible for student discounts, some of which
may require the International Student ID Card. The card is
available for purchase at the International Center, Council
Travel, or directly from CIEE (Tel.: 800-COUNCIL; Web: www.ciee.org).
Do not forget to sign up for the airline's frequent flyer
miles -- you may be able to earn a free trip someplace else!
(See the handout entitled "Cheap
Air Fares" for more travel information.)
