Osaka City is the 3rd commercial and industrial city after Yokohama in Japan. Most of the city limits are in the delta of the downstream of the Yotokawa River and it is nicknamed ¡®Birthplace of Water¡¯ because many canals go through it. Offices, *broadcasting stations,*central gymnasiums,*national hospitals and other institutions are gathered at the Osaka castle park area in the northernmost extreme. Many universities and Shitennosa and other famous temples are located there also. The city¡¯s surroundings are Bodu industrial districts and it has water transportation from the Osaka harbor because the southern part is a coastal industrial park. It is also a heavy chemical industrial area with many large scaled factories of iron manufacturing,*shipbuilding,*vehicle manufacturing,*chemical industries and more. The northern part is a Yotokawa industrial area depending on plenty of industrial water to develop chemical engineering in spinning,*dyeing,*medicine and more. And the eastern part is a Joto industrial area formed by medium and small scaled industries making various metal,*machines,* miscellaneous articles and more. Industries are rapidly growing, and recently pollution like ground and*air pollution,*noise, and *traffic jams are causing big problems and pollution-control measures are being taken.
